Auntie Big's Backyard
Ceramics, 20" x 12" x 9"
Defying the rigid and monumental image of outdoor sculpture, “Auntie Big’s Backyard” situates the audience to enter the fantasy of the land of giants. Three out of sequence Mahjong tiles are found amongst the rock bed along the coast between the Repulse Bay and the Clear Water Bay. The blown out of scale 20” by 12” by 9” everyday objects, the 1 Bamboo, 2 Bamboo and 8 Bamboo are scattered along with a bed of artificial rocks as if it is the backyard of Auntie Big’s party house. The playful site-specific installation engages the audience to appreciate nature and humors its artificiality with a ceramic tile bird (1 Bamboo), two columns of bamboo (2 Bamboo) and two bamboo shelters (8 Bamboo).

Some Clock(s)
6 Retrofitted Antique General Electric Clocks, 110V AC power, Surge Protection, Mirror
“Time is money”, a seemingly antiquated saying in our unprecedented capitalist era, may provide a(n)(il)logical hope for the future, when time runs in an opposite direction. According to the US National Debt Clock, as of September 09, 2009 16:16, US National debt has accumulated $11,802,888,313,519 and is counting up by the second. If we could turn back in time, so could the dollar numbers? Each “Some Clock” ticks backward. Can it be a cure to our economic wound?
"Some Clock(s)" is an installation made up of 6 retrofitted antique clocks by General Electric with a mirror. All set to run backward from 09:09 point on. Each clock is accompanied with an upside down reflection from the mirror. The physicality of each clock may be altered but the vision in mirror provides an inescapable reality with you in it. Time is still ticking forward when you see yourself with it.
